ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
The mission of the institute is to educate men, women and teens about the possibilities for living shatterproof lives. Stresses, disappointments, unexpected crises and even "impossible" circumstances only defeat us if we let them. Most people don't really know what it takes to be prepared for virtually any kind of adversity with confidence and fortitude. The institute is about helping you discover your vulnerabilities and transforming them into exceptional strengths. It's about realizing that a Christian perspective is completely consistent with what works across all sorts of life situations. Once you tap into the 3 core elements of shatterproof living, there will be nothing life can throw at you that you can't overcome. That is something to get up in the morning for!
Now that we live in such an age of instant communication, the institute is intended to be a conduit for an exchange of ideas about shatterproof living. While there are some powerful principles shared in How to Shatterproof Your Marriage, you have an important story of your own. We all learn from each other. The vision is that the institute is a place people can come to for learning and for sharing of information.
John Eckenwiler, LMFT has been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1985. He has worked in private practice most of this time, and has also worked in variety of settings, including a community mental health center, a runaway shelter, a church, a psychiatric hospital and a general hospital. He is also an approved supervisor (for other professionals) with the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT).
John has been married to his wife, Peg since 1974 and has two grown children. His writing comes from his extensive professional training and experience, but he also speaks from the heart based on his own personal experiences. He is a Christian who believes in practical spiritual truth as found in the Bible, not in "religious dogma". Rather than provide you with a canned or simplistic answer to life's biggest challenges, John has had a special interest in summarizing what he knows into some global, practical principles that work across all situations. |
